A challenge for metro’s waste department

Refuse removal problems in Springs.

Last Sunday, I saw two refuse collection trucks parked outside a shop in Charterland Avenue, Selcourt, at 11.15am, and the crews were sprawled over the pavement and not working.

No wonder the rubbish in Selcourt, in wheelie bins or not, is not being collected.

But what’s new, we are only the people who must pay.

I am challenging all who work in this utopian department to come and use my wheelchair and one hand to move my wheelie bin from my backyard to the street, and then in again (still full of rubbish).

The bags were easier when they weren’t collected, just leave them out until they were picked up.

I wonder what the reaction would be if all in Selcourt just divided the amount we are charged by either four or five, depending on the number of weeks in the month, and subtracted it from our account and did not pay it.

Glen Cason.
