Du Toit’s body has been at the Springs Mortuary since May 1.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says du Toit was found in a room he rented in Casseldale.
It is alleged the caretaker tried to call him, and when no one responded, he forced the door open.
Ramphora says the caretaker found du Toit on the bed.
Police were informed of the discovery and an ambulance was called to the scene.
Paramedics declared du Toit dead on the scene.
