She was busy hanging the washing at 2pm, when she noticed an unknown man, armed with a pick, approaching her.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the armed suspect dragged the screaming woman inside the house and assaulted her.
Six more suspects are alleged to have joined the robber before tying the domestic worker up. They searched the house, took a laptop and a TV and left the house.
The seven suspects reportedly drove off in an unidentified white vehicle.
A case of house robbery and assault was opened at the police station.
