Pharrell offers chance of a lifetime

He is a Grammy Award-winning musician, record producer and philanthropist.

Singing groups from Springs schools stand a chance to win a live performance with Pharrell Williams in September.

Helene Brand, marketing manager for Woolworths, says Pharrell is a global icon for social cohesion, advancement through education and environmental awareness.

They believe Pharrell will help them make a difference in the lives of the youth and help them create a better future for the children.

The My School Programme and Pharrell will be hosting a private concert and one singing group will get the chance to appear on stage with Pharrell and win a cash prize of R100 000.

School singing groups must submit audition videos of them performing a song of inspiration.

The top 10 finalists will be chosen by an independent panel and the final selection of the top three will be made by the singer himself.

To enter, schools have to put together a singing group of between five and 20 learners aged between eight and 18.

Film your song of choice, load it on to Youtube and send the full entry, along with details, to singwithus@woolworths.co.za.

Entries close July 31.

View the full competition rules on www.woolworths.co.za/areyouwithus, under the Sing With Us section.

The second prize is R50 000 and the third, R25 000 for the school.
