Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora was alerted to the discovery of a body when he received a call from a community member at 8.20am.
“The man told me only about one body, the other was discovered later,” he says.
One of the bodies was found in an open field between Welgedacht Road and the Petersfield fencing.
Ramphora says the man had a gunshot wound and a stab wound to the chest.
The body of another man was found nearby, on the railway track. This man had a bullet wound to the head.
Police found two 9mm rounds, one at each scene.
A double murder case was opened and police are investigating.
Ramphora asks the community to come forward with information that may assist with the investigation.
