Accident kills one, injures nine
An accident involving a car and a bakkie took place on the R51 between Nigel and Springs on Sunday, killing one person and injuring nine others.
When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived, they found numerous patients lying all over the scene.
A man found trapped in a car car had to be extricated.
ER24 spokesman Chitra Bodasing says there was nothing paramedics could do for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
A second person has to be extricated from a vehicle and was found to be in a critical condition.
Three people sustained critical injuries, while at least six others, among them three children, sustained minor to moderate injuries.
All the injured people were treated on the scene and transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.
The exact cause of the collision is unknown.
