Local kickboxers aim high
Three local kick-boxers brought back gold medals from the recent South African National Kick-Boxing Championships.
More than 50 students, coaches and instructors represented Eastern Gauteng at the competition, which was held in Cape Town.
Sensei Wessel Marais from the Springs Combat Zone Kickboxing Club says the fighters did extremely well.
Out of the 50 students, 14 are from Combat Zone.
Wessel says while 16 students were selected, only 14 could attend.
His son, sensei Ivan Marais (18), received a gold medal in the semi-light contact kickboxing division.
Jackie Feldman (19) took gold in the light contact division.
Nicole Oberholzer (17) earned to gold medals for defeating her opponents in the light contact and semi-light contact divisions.
Wessel is proud to have three SA champions from his club.
