Springs police officers were on routine patrol when they received a call at 8am, informing them of the body lying next to Larus Street.
Springs police spokesman Amanda Greybe says when the SAPS arrived on the scene, they found officials from the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department and Gauteng Emergency Services on the scene.
The dead man was found on his back and had visible injuries to his neck, consistent with strangulation.
The paramedics pointed out the marks on his neck, and the man was declared dead on the scene.
