Armed robbers assaulted their victims with steel pipes on Tuesday (April 14) at a smallholding in Welgedacht Agricultural Holdings.
A man and his three friends were in a room at the address at 9am, when the door was kicked down by three men armed with steel pipes.
Spokesman for the Springs police Amanda Greybe says the kick caused the door to break from its hinges.
A fourth man, who was armed with a gun, was guarding the doorway.
One of the victims managed to escape as the men were tying them up.
He slipped past the guard at the door and ran away.
Greybe says the suspects demanded cash and assaulted the three victims with the steel pipes.
When the suspects realised there were was no cash in the room, they took three DVD players, an amplifier, the victims’ cellphones, and fled the scene.
One of the victims sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
