A day of family fun

Gold One treats their employees like family.

Gold One employees enjoyed their second annual Family Fun Day, at Presidents Park, on Saturday.

With live entertainment in a huge marquee tent, and a playground to entertain the children, everyone was happy.

“This is only a small token of our appreciation for the hard work of our employees,” says Izak Marais, chief operating officer at Gold One.

Management focused more on the children, who could choose to take part in a variety of fun activities.

There was more than enough to keep them busy, from a paintball shooting tunnel to Zorb balls, where children could climb inside the large transparent plastic spheres and roll around.

An inflatable foosball (table soccer) field kept the teenagers busy, leaving the wall climbing for those brave enough to face extreme heights.

Tsakane resident and entertainment organiser Jabulani Mnguni says the bungee trampoline was challenging, but the parachute tunnel was exciting.

The children received a surprise breakfast box, while a scrumptious lunch was served to all the adults.

Mtunzini Siko, chairman of the Modder East branch of the Union of Mineworkers, says the event is appreciated by all the employees and their families.

He says employees are treated like family at the mine, and that this is of critical importance as it motivates the employees in a positive way.

Several musicians entertained the crowd and some of the employees even took to the stage to show off their talent.

After all the excitement on the day, every family took home a cooler bag packed with treats for the whole family.
