Young star on the rise

Abdullah Patel (11) was chosen for the U/13 Easterns cricket team.

The cricket season has just passed, consisting of 11 matches and Abdullah got a batting average of 53.4, a high score of 75, 11 wickets and 7 catches.

The young cricket player is in Bakerton Primary School and has a passion for cricket and is well supported by his family.

Finishing this season of the cricket, Abdullah will soon start with his winter league games after which he starts normal cricket again when winter is over.

He started playing as a junior at the age of seven and was one of the first players in the junior team.

Abdullah was spotted by Eastern scouts when he did trials for U/14 and was always kept in the system until he was old enough and had his first opportunity to be able to try out for the Easterns.

Chiraag Parbhoo, owner of the Bakerton Young Stars Cricket Club and founding member, says the club is growing from strength to strength and so far Springs Secondary School, Springs Muslim School and Bakerton Primary School are partaking in their activities.
