Costly music festival is an insult to the poor

The people who organised the festival are only doing it for their own self-esteem, and over-inflated egos.

According to a report in a national newspaper, the Ekurhuleni spokesman has stated that a festival called the World of Music, Arts, and Dance, costing R90-million, has been cancelled.

For the metro to even consider hosting such a costly festival is utterly stupid, and is an insult to all those poor people who do not have decent municipal services.

It is also an insult to all those children in our town who want to have a swim on a hot day, and cannot due to the selfishness of the council, who refuse to do any repairs now, when they are most needed, to the two remaining swimming pools.

ANC regional secretary Theliswa Mgweba is quite correct in saying that the money should be used to benefit the communities.

The people who organised the festival are only doing it for their own self-esteem, and over-inflated egos.
