Tennis teams make it to tournament final
Although a few Gary Dickson Veteran Memorial Tournament matches were washed out on Saturday, the finals will be played this Saturday.
Club secretary Michelle Kent says they still managed to get through enough matches for the final.
Rob Mcnab and Rodney Smith beat Mick Hurst and Ryno de Lange to get through to the finals.
They will face Ernst de Wet and Tony Pereira on Saturday.
In the mixed doubles, Mick Hurst and Janet Stevenson had to withdraw due to illness, while Michelle Kent and Rob Mcnab lost to Ryno de Lange and Sandy Kock.
The finalists in the mixed doubles are Sandy and Ryno against Ernst and Isabel Thurston.
The semi-finals of the women’s doubles will be played early on Saturday, to determine which two pairs will battle it out in the finals.
The club runs a junior section on Saturdays and interested juniors are welcome to participate.
There is a small monthly membership fee which gives them the opportunity to play under the supervision of the coach, Pieter Stoltz.
