Directors cricket take on Vosloorus

Springs Old Boys (SOB) Directors cricket team beat Vosloorus by 304 runs on Sunday.

The home team won the toss and chose to bat first.

With the first ball bowled, striker Faisal Abdulhameed opened by going for the boundary, changing the scoreboard to four runs.

He was bowled out and so was Zuber Turkey directly after him..

SOB quickly recovered with a good partnership of 40 and 45 runs, between Aslam Patel and Munir Raheman.

Their partnership ended when Patel was bowled out.

Irfan Hansrod joined Raheman for an even better partnership.

Top scorer Raheman scored 199 with Hansrod’s 81 runs.

Aiyubkhan Pathan was the top bowler, taking five wickets, with Patel taking four.

The Directors won with 343 runs in 40 overs and bowled Vosloorus out for 39.

The junior results are as follows:

U-10 A played against Boksburg and lost the match.

U-10 S night match was rained out.

The U-12 A team played against Bakerton and won by 67 runs.

Jayden Mostert scored 52 runs not out.

U-12 S played a night match, but the match was also rained out.

U-14 A team won against Bakerton.

U-14 S had a bye.

On Saturday the first and second league teams finished their season.

The senior results are follows:

The Colts played against Benoni Northerns and lost by 23 runs.

Top batsman Rickus Neethling had 56 runs.

The best bowlers were Sheldon van Zyl with four overs, two wickets and 22 runs, and Rickus Neethling with seven overs, two wickets and 29 runs.

The Premium side played against Benoni Northerns in a rain reduced match to 40 overs a side.

SOB scored 138 runs, with good spin bowling from Benoni Northerns.

José van den Berg scored 32 runs and Charls Buitendacht 23 runs.

The two top bowlers were Zandre Siegmund with seven overs, two wickets and 24 runs, and Jonathan Woolley with six overs, two wickets and 22 runs.

Benoni Northens still walked away with the spoils, winning by five wickets.

The Premium Reserve match rained out.
