SAPS cleans out Springs

The organisations working hand in hand to fight crime.

Members of the police accompanied by someone from Springs Home Affairs and the EMPD searched sections in the Springs central business district (CBD) today (February 12).

They searched several shops and including those in the Springs Small Business Park.

Head of the Springs Home Affairs Tlwaelo Modisane says they work hand in hand with the police to check for illegal immigrants.

He says once they look at the passport or permit of the person they contact their head office to check if the permit or passport is legal.

If not, the person will be arrested and taken to the Springs police cells where they will remain until all the documentation is completed.

After all the formalities the person is taken to Lindela in Krugersdorp, which is a holding facility for immigrants.

“Sometimes the person is sent directly to the border of the country in question,” he says.

The police will release the statistics of today’s operation when these are available.
