Striders hosts 32km road race

Derocious Makhobalo from the Nedbank team was the first athlete over the finishing line in the 32km race.

The Springs Rugby Club was a hive of activity from early on Sunday morning when the Garbie 15km and 32km road races were hosted by the Springs Striders.

There were 900 athletes who finished the 32km race and the 15km had 650 finishers.

Derocious Makhobalo from the Nedbank team was the first athlete over the finishing line in the 32km race.

He had a time of 1:46:20.

The first woman crossing the finishing mark in the 32km race was Alementsehay Kakissa, also from Nedbank, with a time of 2:08:00.

Masters: 1. Gideon Radebe (Anglo) 2:20:35; 2 Dieter Stapel (BNAC) 2:21:04; 3 Tony Da Matta (BNAC) 2:25:21.

Grandmasters 1. John Woodnutt (Morningside) 2:26:51 and 2. Norman Milne (BNAC) 2:45:06.
