The three-year makeover plan came after the park was vandalised in 2012, after which council developed a master plan for the rehabilitation of the recreational facility.
According to Ekurhuleni Spokesperson Themba Gadebe, phase one of the master plan was completed last year.
He explains phase one involved fixing the fence and closing off the whole park with Clear Vu fencing.
The second phase started in July and included landscaping, fixing of ablution blocks, installation of playground equipment, restoration of power and renovation of buildings.
“This phase will be completed in March.”
The final phase will include planting of flowers for the gardens, fixing of roads, the pool and water slides.
The park will only be opened once all renovation work has been completed.
Residents are advised to visit surrounding lakes, dams and parks.
The municipality sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.
