Fun day at Springs Country Club

This is one of the oldest golf leagues in Springs.

The East Rand Commercial and Industrial League (Ecril) had its yearly fun day at Springs Country Club on Saturday.

Ecril, one of the oldest golf leagues in Springs, is a social golf league originally played each month between the teams of different industries and businesses in the region.

A team playing in the league has 10 players, but each month only six golfers are allowed to play.

On Saturday all 10 players from each of the 12 teams were playing.

The results of this fun day, with the format of a four ball alliance (two scores to count) were:

1. Vernon Hendrikse, Frank Carrazon, Jannie Els and Wouter Beukes (97 points oco), 2. Clive Muller, Piet Erasmus and Mariaan Hattingh (97 points oco) and 3. Jorsie Lira, Debbie Carrazon, Tobie Truter and Chris Erasmus (96 points).

The team of Smurfland was the overall winner of this year’s Ecril league.

The Leeulopers team was second and the team from Casen was third.
