Have your say about slush dump

Residents still have until November 18 a chance to comment.

Residents living close to the newly built acid mine treatment (AMD) plant at Grootvlei Mine still have the opportunity until November 18 to voice their concerns about where the waste will be dumped.

This AMD plant is currently being erected at Grootvlei number 3 shaft and it is proposed that the sludge coming from it has to be disposed of at either Grootvlei or a site at Largo.

The final scoping report on the proposed waste disposal site and pipeline to it from the treatment facility, compiled by Digby Wells Environmentalists, is now finalised.

This report contains the concerns of the community and affected parties the company has already obtained and the studies Digby Wells will do now to determine the impact of this plant on Springs and its environment and the people close to the plant.

The final scoping report is available for scrutiny at the Springs and Bakerton libraries as well as at Digby Wells’ offices in Randburg.

To view it online, see this document under public documents on the website www.digbywells.co.za
