No more load shedding problems

The N17 Hospital now has an 800KVA generator to assist the smaller generator during power failures.

They discussed the issue at the previous financial year meeting and it became essential that they acquire another, larger generator to assist the smaller one.

Phillip van Dyk, technical senior manager, says they have to keep up with technology including medical equipment and this bigger generator was installed to keep all the theatres running during load-shedding or power failures.

Their first priority is to think of the patients and with the smaller 350KVW generator all the operating theatres were still not operative.

They waited for delivery for five months and another two weeks for specialised electrical contractors to install it.

Phillip says the new generator is a blessing and will support the new extensions of the hospital that are currently under construction.
