Dirty hall changes into youth centre

When not used as a gathering place, the hall is utilized as a dance studio and church.

Giving the children and youth alternative entertainment and peer friendships are the aims of the upgrading a part of the Masonic Hall.

Shaun Oliver, teacher and part-time pastor, decided to change the hall, situated on the corner of First Avenue and Seventh Street to become the gem of Springs.

He says the part of the Masonic Hall they upgraded was a dirty storehouse, with oil on the wooden floors.

With paint and some colour they are currently changing this hall into a place where the young ones can gather.

The meeting for the primary school children is each Friday between 5pm and 7pm.

The high school learners gather from 7pm to 8:30pm.

Olivier says the young people have the chance to forge friendships and hear motivational messages in a safe environment.
