Ruan Hattingh (6) earns gold medal

Ruan Hattingh's goal to win the Clash of the Tiny Titans competition came true.

This six-year-old boy from Combat Zone Kickboxing Club, earned his gold medal  on Sunday by winning all five of hius fights on the day.

There were 10 fighters in this age group battling it out in the semi-contact division.

The day was hosted by XKT Kickboxing Club in Brakpan at the Springs Indoor Sport Centre.

Although Ruan was disappointed that he was not able to fight in the light contact division because of his age, he is determined to make it his next goal.

He says he is happy that all his opponents did not walk away empty handed as each of them received a medal.

With the EFC fighter JP Tinkerbell Kruger’s inspiring words “Every punch, every kick and breath is for the glory of Jesus” still fresh in his mind, he has already set a new goal for himself – to fight for the next gold medal.

Ruan’s father Gideon Hattingh, says Ruan sets his next goal by regularly looking at the pamphlet advertising the next kickboxing event.

His coach, sensei Wessel Marais says he is proud of the goal Ruan has set for himself and his performance during his five fights.

He believes the boy has a lot of potential.
