Metro has wasted money on stadium for 10 years

The metro officials will on Saturday give an indication on the way forward.

For 10 years now the Ekurhuleni Metro has paid at least R40 000 per month to guard the derelict PAM Brink Stadium.

“This has cost the ratepayers of Springs a total of R4.8-million to protect a stadium that is in ruins.” says Dean Stone, ward councillor for Springs.

There are, according to information received from Stone, two guards on duty during the day and two guards at night.

Each of these four guards is currently paid R10 000 per month.

Various companies have been operating on the site for 10 years.

Stone says the metro going to give residents feedback on Ekurhuleni’s plans on the stadium after 10 years of wasting taxpayers’ money.

This meeting will take place at 9am on Saturday in the Supper Hall, Springs Civic Centre.
