These dogs will show their capability at the show to be held at the Springs Airfield on Saturday.

The dog show will start at 11am, when the dogs will showcase their obedience to their trainers and how trainer and dog work as a team.

Superintendent AndrĂ© Boon, EMPD K9 Dog Unit commander, says the dogs will walk with a leash and without it to prove how well they react to their trainer’s commands.

The dogs are being trained to sniff out narcotics and explosives.

Boon says the dogs will firstly indicate where the narcotics are hidden on the airfield grounds.

The dogs are also trained to apprehend a suspect and they will showcase this.

One of the officers will wear a protective cover over his arm and run away from the dog .

At this point the dog’s trainer will give the command to catch him.
