The incident took place on Monday at around 8.30pm.
According to Springs police spokesman, Captain Johannes Ramphora the family was busy making fire outside their shack when a group of unknown men approached them.
He says the robbers asked if the victims’ home was a tuckshop while also pointing firearms at them.
“The victims ran to save their lives from the suspects but one of them was shot and he died on the scene,” says Ramphora.
No arrests have been made in connection with the matter and the police appeal to anyone with the information that may help arrest the suspects to call the Springs police station on 011 365 5700/19/20.
