Minor faces house robbery ordeal

No arrests have been made following the house robbery in Alliance Road on Wednesday.

A 17-year-old was a victim of a house robbery in Alliance Road last Wednesday. The minor was in the kitchen studying with headphones on when a group of unknown men confronted her.

Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala said she was alone in the main house, and her uncle was outside in the backroom.

“The thieves gained access through the front security gate and used a crowbar to break in,” said Tshabalala.

“They questioned the minor about the whereabouts of valuable items in the house before ransacking it.”

Tshabalala said the thieves took the girl’s laptop, cellphone and house appliances before going to the garage to look for vehicles.

They then went to the outside room where the uncle was and tried to forcefully enter by breaking the security gate and main door. They were unsuccessful, and they fled the scene.

No injuries were sustained, and no arrests were made.
