Rea Hamba Hiking Club admires its tremendous growth

Rea Hamba Hiking Club is still accepting new members to join the club.

Rea Hamba Hiking Club has its eyes on a national lens.

This comes after the club experienced tremendous growth since it started in 2020.

Collien Tapiwa Madimba of the club says they never expected to attract more than a handful of hikers when they first started.

“I’m very grateful for the growth that we have witnessed. The hiking club was a result of seeing people close to me wanting to stay active but do not participate in extreme sports,” said Madimba.

“When we started, there were only a few hikers. Now we can proudly say that we have a lot more hikers that have joined us.”

The club has also attracted older citizens who have mastered their strength on every hiking trail that they have been to.

Baratang Mokoena of the club adds their mission was to help the community stay active without making a profit.

“Usually when people think of keeping active, they think it costs a lot of money, this is not so with us. We are a fun community that also does community work such as soup kitchens and donations to help the less fortunate.”

The hiking club’s plans include reaching out to as many people as possible and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as a group.
