Local boxer Gerhard Thysse prepares to participate in tournament at Emperors Palace

The boxer who hails from Springs will be participating in his second professional fight at Emperors Palace.

Gerhard Thysse, a South African amateur boxing champion, will be participating in the Peril@The Palace Box and Dine Tournament on March 18.

The match is taking place at Emperors Palace’s Centre Court.

The announcement that the up-and-coming fighter from Springs will be in action on the undercard, was made at Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale.

Thysse made a successful transition to the ranks in June last year when he beat Penitence Trust Duma, with a second round TKO, in a light heavyweight contest on the undercard of the Winner Takes All Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace.

“I am hoping to emulate my first performance as this will be my second professional fight at the same venue,” says Thysse.

Thysse’s opponent is yet to be finalised.
