Worker held up during robbery at employer’s home

A man was cutting trees at his employer’s Selcourt home when he was ambushed by armed men last

Friday.
The 63-year-old was in the garden when he heard the family’s dogs barking.
“He was alone at the home at the time. He went to check what was happening and was approached by an armed man who instructed him to lie down.
“He was then asked if the owner was home,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
The victim saw a grey Volvo station wagon and two other intruders.

One was carrying a pick and the other a crowbar.
“The robbers went into the house. One of them broke the garage door.
“They drove their car into the yard and started loading items,” he added.
The robbers made off with two TVs, a small safe, a laptop, five wristwatches, seven bottles of whiskey, three cellphones and a video camera.
The items are valued at R83 000.
