Man nabbed for hijacking

The owner of the car reported the hijacking to Springs SAPS three days earlier.

A man was arrested for hijacking in 10th Street, Springs, on February 23.
The owner of the car reported the hijacking to Springs SAPS three days earlier.
“According to the complainant, he was sitting inside the car when the suspect approached him and knocked on the window.
“The robber pulled out a gun and instructed the victim to get out of the car, and then he drove off,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.

On Wednesday around 15:00, the victim noticed his car along 10th Street.
“He immediately called the investigating officer, who organised a crime prevention unit, who reacted and caught up to the suspect. The suspect tried to speed off but the police blocked the road and the suspect was apprehended,” he added.
Ramphora said the victim was able to positively identify the car and the suspect.
The suspect was arrested for carjacking and was taken to Springs SAPS for detention.
