Guards ambushed during robbery

One of the guards was in the guardroom and the other was patrolling the yard when they were ambushed by six men.

Two security guards were tied up during a robbery in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Daggafontein.
One of the guards was in the guardroom and the other was patrolling the yard when they were ambushed by six men.
“Two of the men had guns,” said Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.

One of the victims told the police the robbers forced him to the ground and pistol whipped him on the head.
“They then took him to the guardroom. The men were tied up with their shoelaces and locked in the guardroom,” added Ramphora.
The robbers made off with 40m cables, two batteries, a laptop and a computer.
“The manager went to the site after no response from the guards at 04:30 and found them in the guardroom,” said Ramphora.
