Bogus taxi doing rounds

On Saturday, a resident was robbed of her belongings, including money and a cellphone, after she boarded a white Quantum on her way to town.

Kwatsaduza – The Springs Taxi Association warns the community to be vigilant of a bogus taxi doing the rounds in Springs, Kwa-Thema and Tsakani.
On Saturday, a resident was robbed of her belongings, including money and a cellphone, after she boarded a white Quantum on her way to town.
It is understood that there were four men and a woman inside the taxi during the incident.
The incident took place just after 11:00 along Meyer Drive.
A case has been opened with the police.

Taxi association public relations officer Lyric Tau is urging commuters to look out for the association’s sticker before making use of any taxi.
The sticker is located at the front of the taxi on the left-hand side.
“As we continue to work with local authorities in resolving the matter, we urge residents to remain alert.
“Those who might have some information regarding the matter can contact law officials or call our office,” said Tau.
He added that residents must also take note of the vehicle’s registration number before they use it.
