Robbers break doors to gain entry to Geduld business

One of the robbers stayed with the guard while his accomplices broke the entrance door to the business.

An early morning break-in at a Geduld scrapyard last Monday morning has left the business five TVs short.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the security guard was walking outside the perimeter fence when he was confronted by six robbers, two of whom were armed with pistols.
They ordered the guard to lie on the ground before taking him to the guard room, where they stole his cellphone.
One of the robbers stayed with the guard while his accomplices broke the entrance door to the business.

After a while, the robbers came back, gave the guard his cellphone back, and locked the guard in before fleeing the scene.
The guard had to climb out the window to call for help.
The robbers took five 55-inch TVs that were mounted on the wall, valued at R50 000.
The damaged door is valued at R10 000.
There were no injuries reported after the incident.
