Waste removal services in the Springs and Kwa-Thema areas were impacted on Tuesday due an incident in which a male official from the City of Ekurhuleni was fatally shot.
The shooting took place at the entrance gate of the Springs Solid Waste Depot while the man was on duty.

“The government pathology team took long to collect the body of the deceased. Leaving the body lying on the ground at the entrance of the facility had a bad psychological impact on our employees.
“However, the City has arranged therapy for the workers to cope with the situation, ” said Phosa.
Phosa pleaded with residents of Springs, Kwa-Thema and surrounding areas to take out their 240l wheelie bins on Wednesday morning by 7am, as the collection rounds of Tuesday will be carried out on Wednesday morning.
