Hijackers cause accident to make off with car

In addition to the car, the men also took the victim’s wristwatch, cellphone and cards.

A Crystal Park resident was hijacked on Welgedacht Road at the intersection leading to Bakerton on Monday evening.
The victim, travelling in a white Golf 7, told police he was heading towards Etwatwa when he noticed flashing lights behind him.

A white Hyundai i10 then bumped into the back of the victim’s car.
When he stopped and got out of his vehicle, he was approached by three men.
One of the men had a firearm and pointed it at him.
The other two pulled the victim into their car, where the driver was still sitting, while the gunman got into the victim’s vehicle.

They then drove around with the victim and eventually dropped him off at a dam near the Vlakfontein Cemetery.
In addition to the car, the men also took the victim’s wristwatch, cellphone and cards.
The total value of the stolen goods is R206 900.
