Man hijacked by bogus cops on Paul Kruger Highway

A 23-year-old man was robbed of his silver Mercedes-Benz on the Paul Kruger Highway last Sunday evening by four hijackers masquerading as law enforcers.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the victim was pulled over by the occupants of the vehicle sporting blue lights.

After he had stopped, the victim was approached by a man wearing a blue jacket who asked to see his driver’s licence and ordered him to wear his mask.
As he was putting on his mask, the man took the keys out of the ignition and three more men, all armed with guns, got out of the white Mercedes and ordered the victim to get into the back seat of his car.

They then drove to the N17 and the victim was dropped off in Cleveland.
He was found by a security guard and the victim called his friends, who took him to the Cleveland Police Station. In addition to the car, the victim’s cellphone was also stolen.
The total value of both items is R480 000.
