Truck batteries stolen from construction site

Edelweiss construction site robbed

Two truck batteries were stolen during a robbery at an Edelweiss construction site around 3am last Monday morning.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said two security guards on duty heard a noise, but upon further investigation didn’t see anything suspicious.
Three hours later, one of the guards – who was sleeping underneath a tipper truck – was awoken by four men, all of whom were wearing balaclavas.

The guard was instructed to follow the robbers to the other security guard, who was at a portable toilet on site.
Both guards were forced into the portable toilet and one of the robbers kept a watch over them, while the other three got to work.
Two truck batteries valued at R6 000 were taken and the men then fled the scene.
No arrests have been made.
