Guard tied up during robbery on Clydesdale Road

Construction vehicles valued at R1-million stolen from Casseldale business

November started on a sour note for a Casseldale business after it was robbed of construction vehicles valued at R1-million.
The incident took place last Sunday evening on Clydesdale Road.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said a security guard on duty heard a noise coming from one of the containers on the other side of the construction site.

He was then approached by four men armed with guns.
The robbers took him to the guard room and tied his hands and feet together with shoe laces and forced him to sit on a chair.
Two of the robbers stayed behind to guard him while the others went outside and cut the fence to gain access to the construction vehicles.

The robbers took two TLBs and removed the tracking devices from the vehicles before driving off.
The two remaining robbers fled at approximately 4am.
The guard was found at 6am by the day shift guards.
