St Michael's Presbyterian Church damaged during storm

The St Michael’s Presbyterian Church on 7th Street suffered substantial damage following the destructive storm that passed through Springs on Sunday.
A large portion of the ceiling in the main hall collapsed and the hall was flooded and suffered water damage.
A part of the roof’s structure was also damaged.

Workers were hired during the week to clear the debris and water in an attempt to minimise the damage.
This has also disturbed the plans of dancing instructor Nooiens Kock and seniors from the Senior Citizens Centre right opposite the church who are offered dancing lessons every Sunday at the church.

A large portion of the ceiling has collapsed and the roof structure is also damaged.

According to a member of the church, Rob Grange, the church is still waiting for a full damage report before going forward with repairs.
“We are not sure of the cost yet, but it doesn’t look very good,” he said.
