Getting to know Marcel Simon

Simon wants the book to inspire people to seek their purpose in life by finding God.

Local author Marcel Simon published a book titled Righteousness: 40 Days of Deciphering Righteousness earlier this year.
Simon wants the book to inspire people to seek their purpose in life by finding God.
What inspired you to write this book?
In 2013 I received Jesus in my life, and I decided to read the Scriptures.
When I read Romans 14:17, which says, ”For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost”, I started to think about righteousness.
I started doing research on righteousness and began writing about it.
What made you decide to write a Christian book?
I am a Christian and a pastor.
I want to spread my message as far as possible, and a book seems to be a very effective way to do this.

Do you view writing as a sort of spiritual practice?
Writing this book was definitely a spiritual experience.
I was fasting when I wrote it and I was reading the Bible every day.
Is writing a big passion of yours?
I would say writing is one of my greatest passions in life.
When I was in school, I tried to write a novel but never finished it.
I also tried to write a poetry book but failed to complete that as well, so I decided I have to start finishing projects I take on and so I completed this book.
Do you plan on writing more books?
Yes, I’m planning on publishing a second book next year, which will be about purpose.
I want to help people find their purpose by finding God first, like I did.
Are there certain people who inspired you?
Yes, my high school teacher Themba Vilakazi showed me how to see with my eyes closed, and Miles Munroe taught me how to see with my heart.

Do you have advice for aspiring writers?
They must read as much as possible and as widely as possible.
Reading work from different authors with different world views will allow you to expand your knowledge.
You will also learn to think critically.
Do you have any interests outside of writing?
I’m studying multimedia and I’m very interested in filmmaking, television and radio.
My dream is to one day own a film production company.
