Skills development opportunity for unemployed youth

Another opportunity for youth to develop some skills during Covid-19 national lock down

Tsakani – Avocado Vision has partnered with local non-profit organisation Tsakane Youth Development Programme for a skills development workshop.

The skills training focuses on financial literacy and Covid-19, and commenced last Wednesday.

It is set to continue until the first week of August.

Interested youth between the ages of 18 and 35 can still apply to be part of the programme.

Emmanuel Nqabeni, facilitator from Avocado Vision, says: “The company offers soft skills programmes for communities.

“I work as a facilitator for the company and have been working with communities for the past six years.

“This programme is focusing on Covid-19 safety guidelines; we want to create awareness by ensuring people have the necessary knowledge about the virus.

“We have also featured financial literacy which will focus on educating young people about money, how to create a monthly budget and how to change their financial situations for the better.”

The financial module is divided into three parts: Managing Risk, Managing Debt and Basic Information about banking.

Tsakane Youth Development Programme co-founder and administrator Pule Moloi says training will consist of 25 to 30 people per day.

“Our classes start from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.

“Covid-19 regulations are implemented, and there is also catering for our students.

“We are looking to have a database of unemployed yet trained youth so should opportunities present themselves they are well prepared.

“Those who are interested can contact Pule on 084 302 0464.

“Interested parties can WhatsApp or SMS their names and surnames to book their seat and we will respond with full details.

“Our classes are currently taking place at 7302 Moeketsi Street, Basothong Section,” he explains.
