House robbery in Springs Extension

Domestic worker assaulted during home invasion

Five suspects broke into a Springs Extension home last Thursday and got away with two safes containing money and jewellery.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the complainant was inside the house preparing to take a shower while the domestic worker was doing laundry.

She suddenly saw one suspect, armed with a gun, approaching her.

He instructed the complainant and domestic worker not to move and standstill.

Four more armed suspects came into the house and went straight to the main bedroom.

Once there, they asked for the code for the safe but the complainant didn’t know it.

Hearing that, the suspects started assaulting the domestic worker, kicking her, punching her and throwing her on the floor.

The suspects removed the mounted safe from inside the cupboard.

They then assaulted the complainant and asked her where the other safe was.

The second mounted safe was removed from another bedroom, before they ransacked the house and eventually left with just the two safes.

According to complainant, the suspects gained entry into the house through the small front gate and back sliding door, which was slightly open for the dogs.

The suspects fled in a white Hyundai, the registration number is unknown.
