A 33-year-old man died after he was shot while in his car at the corner of Libya and Welgedacht Road in Slovo Park last Tuesday.
Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim was at the intersection when two men approached him and asked for directions to Springs.
The men got into the car, but before they could drive off, two neatly dressed suspects approached the vehicle and fired several shots at the driver’s door and window.

The front passenger got out the car, trying to escape the scene, but died on the scene.
The second passenger escaped into one of the houses nearby.
He sustained a knee injury.
The driver tried to escape but was powerless due to his injuries and couldn’t drive any further.

The suspects followed him, dragged him out of the car before shooting him in his upper body.
Once sure the victim was dead, the suspects jumped into a white Quantum, which drove towards Springs CDB.
According to information received by police, the victim was involved in illegal mining.
