Selection Park Tennis Club open for business

The Selection Park Tennis Club has opened its doors and eager players signed up to play immediately.

Due to the lockdown regulations, only a handful of players are allowed at the courts at a time.

Players have to book a time slot in advance if they want to play.

Only singles games are allowed.

Players need their temperatures measured and sign an attendance register inside the clubhouse before heading out to the courts.

A committee member will be appointed each weekend to do this.

When playing, players are allowed to remove their masks, but must immediately wear them again when leaving the courts.

No social events are permitted at the club and players are asked to practice social distancing at all times.

Players also have to use their own balls, and no rotation of balls will be allowed.

For now, only friendly matches are being played and tournaments will commence one the lockdown regulations allow for it.

The club is excited to announce that they have appointed a new head coach, Mike Ritchie.With this new coach, the club hopes to be more competitive than ever once competition and tournaments are allowed to commence.

Deidre Vrey says players are excited to play after many months away from the court.

“We are all glad to be back, but we must remember to stay safe and practice social distancing to keep each other safe,” says Vrey.
