Mahlangu has eyes on East Rand Soccer Excellence Academy

Jabu Mahlangu is planting back into to the development of soccer talent in Ekurhuleni

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Jabu Mahlangu has partnered with Betway South Africa to give back to the community that raised him.

After enjoying a memorable career, Mahlangu shared the news after an in-depth interview conducted on Betway?s social media channel, where the dribbling wizard engaged with fans on the highlights of his career, the current state of South African football and his overall view of the game.

‘Shuffle’, as he is affectionately known, said partnering with the brand allows him to fulfil a long-standing void in his heart of wanting to give back to football in his hometown, Daveyton.

“Through playing football, I have had the pleasure of making a career out of my talent.

Even after my retirement, it is my involvement in football that helps me provide for my family.

For this reason, I have always thought of how I could help the talent in my community to fulfil their dreams of playing the game.

My partnership with Betway will do exactly that through this donation of playing and training equipment,” said Mahlangu.

They will deliver the much-needed equipment and kit, which is valued at R20 000, to the East Rand Soccer Excellence Academy in Germiston as soon as football activities are permitted.

“Daveyton has produced a number of players for South African football.

The likes of Pollen Ndlanya, Junior Khanye, Thabiso Malatsi and recently, Musa Nyatama are all examples of the talent that comes out of this community.

The generous donation will certainly encourage clubs to continue with the wonderful work that they have done over the years,” concluded Mahlangu.

Adding to Mahlangu’s sentiments of giving back to the game, Betway SA’s marketing manager David Rachidi said identifying community needs and giving back remains a key priority.
