Blue lights hijacking in Grootvlei

Two men dressed in police uniform got out of the car and approached the complainant.

A Grootvlei man was hijacked by what police suspect were fake police.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the complainant had just driven onto Grootvaly Road when he remembered he forgot his driver’s licence at home.

After making a U-turn, a white GTI flashed blue lights at him to indicate he should pull over.

Two men dressed in police uniform got out of the car and approached the complainant.

He stepped out of his car, leaving the keys in the ignition, to talk to the suspects and explain why he made a U-turn.

While talking to one of the suspects, one of them told the victim to walk with him to their car.

While walking, the complainant heard the sound of his car being driven off by the other suspect.

The complainant was then left alone when the other suspect got into his car and drove off.
