Victims held up for seven hours in business robbery

The suspects stole 13 tyres, three batteries and diesel from the trucks and tanks.

Several victims were held captive for seven hours by two armed suspects in Persida, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The complainant says on Monday evening, he was sleeping in his room at the farm on which he worked, when he woke up to the sound of his door being forcefully opened.

The suspects, armed with pistols and wearing balaclavas, entered his room.

They then took the victims to the other room, tied them up with shoelaces and took their cellphones and money.

The two suspects took guard.

The complainant says he heard that there were other suspects outside.

The suspects stole 13 tyres, three batteries and diesel from the trucks and tanks on the property.

The victims were eventually released the following morning at around 5am.

There were no injuries reported and no shots were fired during the robbery.
