Close game between Springs Old Boys and KwaThema

Clarke bowled six overs with one maiden, one wicket and conceded only 25 runs.

Springs Old Boys (SOB) took on KwaThema Cricket Club on Sunday morning.

Conditions were perfect for a day of cricket at Old Boys with clear skies and no threat of rain.

SOB won the toss and elected to field first.

Star bowler Jayden Mostert displayed a masterclass with the ball with seven overs, one maiden and four wickets while conceding only 33 runs, and put the visiting side under great pressure.

Devon Clarke supported Mostert on the other end of the wicket with impressive figures as well.

The visitors were all dismissed for 169 runs in the 44th over.

Opening batsmen Neil Joubert played an exemplary innings and put the hosts under pressure from the first ball, but sadly lost his wicket just after lunch.

A small batting collapse after lunch saw Springs Old Boys under some pressure, but Henco Maritz (71 not out) performed an anchor role in the chase and also hit the winning runs.

Supporting batsmen Musa Mancele (33), Jayden Mostert (22) and Devon Clark (22) carried the team to victory.

KwaThema never eased the pressure on the hosts, and kept on taking regular wickets.

Spring Old Boys won the match with two wickets.
