Mother and son hijacked in Rowhill

The pair were then driven to a veld, where the suspects stripped the car, looking for the tracking device.

A mother and son were hijacked in Rowhill last Friday evening, says Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The pair went to buy food at the Engen garage and as they were leaving, the mother noticed a white unmarked bakkie following them, with blue lights flashing on the dash board.

The woman stopped and was approached by a suspect in civilian clothes.

He asked for her drivers licence and while busy checking it, he was joined by two suspects who opened the passenger door, pulled out a gun and forced the pair into the back seat.

They then demanded money and cellphones from them before tying the son’s hands with cable ties and blindfolding him with his jersey.

The pair were then driven to a veld, where the suspects stripped the car, looking for the tracking device.

After some time, the suspects told the victims they knew the car had a tracking device, but they couldn’t find it.

The suspects then told the victims to take their car and gave them directions out of the veld.
