SPCA short of food for cats and dogs

At present, the organisation goes through roughly 30kg of food per day.

The Springs SPCA is desperately short of dog and cat food.

The animal welfare organisation has just come from a hectic December period where they took in 322 animals.

Of the 322, 187 were dogs, the majority of which were surrendered.

There were 135 cats taken in, of which 83 were strays.

Only 31 animals were either adopted or claimed by their owners.

At present, the organisation goes through roughly 30kg of food per day.

“We are in dire need.

“Our container is empty and we are on our last few bags.

“Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated,” says Roxanne Grobler, kennel manager at the SPCA.

Donations can be dropped off at their office on the corner of Ermelo and Townsend roads, Strubenvale.

Alternatively, contact them on 082 668 5230 to arrange for collection in the Springs area.
